Expanding My Lens A Month and a Half Journey Across Asia
I will soon be embarking on a month and a half long trip all throughout Asia, including places like Japan, Fiji, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Right now I have the ability to travel for long periods of time and to exercise my travel photography, so I am taking full advantage of it.
I decided on these specific locations because I want to visit my brother who is currently in the Air Force in Japan. It is going to be great to see him, and after talking about this trip for so long, it is finally time to make it a reality Lord willing.
Preparing Spiritually for the Unknown
There is a lot of logistics and preparation that goes into a trip of this scale, but the thing that matters most to me is where I am at spiritually. I want to be ready to see God move and to hear His voice. This is one of the biggest priorities in my life. By submitting this journey to God, I am able to connect with Him in a deeper way through travel, which is special for me.
Becoming a More Adaptable Photographer
This expedition is also massive for my work because I am able to grow my portfolio and become a better photographer. I will be put into many different situations and circumstances. Being able to capture beautiful images wherever I am, despite being completely unfamiliar with the environment, is a great way to grow. Photographers need to be adaptable and flexible, and this itinerary puts me in the ultimate spot to develop those two qualities.
Traveling has always been the heart behind why I do photography. I do not take lightly the impact it has on me and how I can better serve others through it.
Bringing Global Experience Back Home
Because I am able to travel to far off places, it actually helps me become a better photographer for the places right here at home. Encountering new cultures, discovering fresh visions, and navigating unfamiliar places pushes me way beyond my comfort zone. That process develops my skills to be greater than I was before.
Whether I am shooting graduate sessions, weddings, headshots, or commercial projects back in Texas, I can serve my clients with confidence. I know that if I can successfully take photos in places I cannot pronounce very well, I can definitely deliver incredible photos for my home country.
Thanks and Gig em
