You can be the best at anything, but if no one knows who you are, it doesn't matter!
Marketing is essential because it’s about a business’s presence in the world — and if you have no presence, you have no business. To be honest, I can do better with my marketing, but marketing should be as consistent as any other part of your business.
The reason why marketing may be a struggle is because it goes outside the realm of someone’s expertise. You like cutting grass or baking cakes? Those are the things your business runs on, and you’re good at making it happen. But marketing is a different beast. And the fact that it’s such a different skill can discourage others from representing themselves — but I’d encourage you that regardless of your expertise, you have the ability to market yourself effectively.
All it takes is sharing your work online, telling others what you do, receiving reviews from clients for others to see, having a digital or physical presence, and much more. Some of those things are how I like to represent myself — even through this blog.
