Pride goes before destruction
God has given me plenty of ability, chances, and time to do what I need to do. This is more of a reality now than ever. I'm so blessed and sometimes through the mundane and repetition I can forget that. For me being bold is required for the things that I desire in life and for the the sake of this post I'll narrow it down to my career for something I want to go big on.
My dad gave me a call on how to do business and I heard him give solid marketing advice. One thing that stuck out was him saying "in order to stand out you have to do the hard things no-one wants to do." That statement resonated with me and will be something that helps get to the next level. But what are the hard things?
I have pride (shocker I know) and some things go against it, like self-promotion on social media or in general. It's about protecting my image but if I don't have an image for people to attach to my business it's hard to get any business. Obviously this is a major flaw but by promoting myself through Instagram and Facebook this is one step in getting to where I need to go. A recommendation my dad gave was to give out flyers and business cards to neighborhoods to introduce myself and offer my services. This is a bit more old school but it's hard, smart, and no one really does that any more so I might actually get started on that.
It's not that I try to be a coward or I don't take chances. I'm realizing that sometimes when there's no discernable way you just have to make one and have faith in God that He will guide you. I have not taken as my leaps or steps of faith as I should since I like to guarantee success. But If I stick to the safe and easy path the only thing that's guaranteed for my life is failure. Praise God.
