This is something I’ve been convicted of recently: I give to God, but am I giving Him my best?

What can you give to God, exactly? You can give Him your time, your attention, your money, and anything else you hold dear. I know I’ve been slacking in some ways lately, and God knows the heart behind everything I give.



God only gives the best, especially considering He gave Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. It doesn't make sense for those of us in a relationship with Him to give back minimally or give anything less than our best. It’s always good to reevaluate just what you give and how you give it.

I think where I fall short is my time and energy. I have a business to run, and that requires a lot of time and energy to maintain—but nothing should go before God. I usually come to God when it’s convenient, easy, or involves minimal sacrifice. Sometimes my energy is low or I’m not totally focused mentally. This is not ideal. God calls us to give our best, so that’s what I’m going to do.

It’s not that God wants us to suffer or to lack, but when we give our best to Him, that is exactly where we need to be—and that’s where He shows up. In a relationship with God, He obviously does so much more than we deserve, but that doesn't mean He carries the whole relationship. This is a two-way deal, and we need to humble ourselves before the Lord and give Him the honor and praise He is worthy of.

In the end, I hope God sees my heart and sees that I am giving my best to Him and not just the scraps. He is worthy.
