Only One Choice
Texas A&M is not a cult—it's a college filled with cadets, cowboys, and the spirit of the 12th Man. For some Aggies, the connection starts before birth. When I was just a baby in my mother's tummy, my parents attended a football game. As players rushed toward the direction of my mom during a play, fellow Aggies at the game shielded her, protecting both of us. I was destined to be an Aggie.
My first memories of Texas A&M are from when my dad would take my siblings and me to football games in College Station. Every Saturday, whether at the stadium or at home, we watched Aggie football. Regardless of the results, we continued this tradition week after week, month after month, year after year. My dad never told us to go to college or to any specific college, but his love for Texas A&M, combined with other family members being alumni, left us with no other idea in mind for college.
Growing up, I was even bullied in elementary school for liking Texas A&M, which only strengthened my resolve. If being a Longhorn was the popular choice, I wanted to go against it, especially if the Longhorn fans were mean. My older brothers were already on the hype train for Aggieland, adding to my determination.
During my senior year of high school, I applied to Texas A&M but did not get accepted. It was a tough blow, especially since I had a 4.0 GPA, but sometimes your best isn't enough. That didn't deter me. I applied to Blinn College in Bryan, Texas. Everyone gets accepted there, so I completed my two years and reapplied to Texas A&M. This time, I got in. Praise God!
From student activities and packed football games to Aggie culture, education, and traditions, Texas A&M is exceptional. I can't imagine attending any other university. Being part of Texas A&M and graduating has shaped me in more ways than I know.
I graduated in 2017 with a major in Communications and a minor in Business. Following in my brothers' footsteps, I embraced the "monkey see, monkey do" approach. Since graduation, I've remained in College Station, now working as a photographer in the Bryan-College Station area.
Texas A&M boasts an awesome culture, fantastic alumni, and an exceptional history. I'm glad to be part of this legacy. Hopefully, when I have kids, they'll join the greatest university and have an even better experience. Gig 'em!
As a Bryan-College Station photographer, I capture the spirit and traditions of Texas A&M, ensuring each photo reflects the pride and passion of Aggieland. Whether it's an engagement shoot, family portrait, or graduation photos, I strive to make each moment memorable and vibrant, just like the culture of Texas A&M.
