How to Prepare for Your Graduation Photos

Graduation photos are more than just a celebration of your degree—they’re a way to capture the hard work, memories, and people who made the journey meaningful. If you're prepping for a grad session in Bryan–College Station (especially at Texas A&M), here are a few tips to make the most of it:

1. Be Smart About the Sun

Planning around the sun can make a big difference. Try to shoot when the sunlight isn’t harsh—usually early morning or an hour or two before sunset. That golden light looks great in photos and keeps you from squinting or overheating.

2. Bring the Essentials

Before you leave for your shoot, double-check that you have everything you need:

Your cap (with tassel)

Stole or cords

Two outfits (One formal, one fun is a good combo)

Comfortable shoes (especially if you'll be walking across campus)

Little details like forgetting your stole can throw off the whole shoot—so pack the night before!

3. Plan for Busy Spots

If you're hoping to shoot in front of the Jack K. Williams building, know that it’s a very popular spot. Lines can get long, especially around graduation weekends. Build in extra time if that’s on your list, and bring a little patience—it’s worth it for that iconic shot.

4. Bring People Who Matter

Graduation is a celebration, so invite your friends, family, or even your dog to be part of a few photos. Including the people (or pets) who supported you along the way adds meaning and makes the session way more fun.

5. Get Ready to Have Some Fun

This is your moment—don’t stress it. Your job is to show up, celebrate your accomplishments, and enjoy the shoot. I’ll take care of making sure you look great and everything runs smoothly. If you have any questions before the shoot, don’t hesitate to reach out!
