Everyone goes to the Jack K. Williams building in the evening. But what about in the morning? This is the key if you want to avoid those crazy crowds and get more sunlight in your photos. The only real problem with mornings is usually people's availability, but aside from that, taking photos in the morning is great.
Think about it: you avoid the long lines, you get the sun in your photos which is always nice, and you have the rest of your day free after the shoot. This is preferably done on a weekend to avoid students walking to class, but you really can't go wrong.
I went there recently for a shoot and it was amazing. Funny enough, there was still a line for about 20 to 30 minutes, but it was so much less crowded to deal with. Because we finished there so quickly, we were able to head over to the Zachry engineering building and had little to no people interrupting the shots. I'll repeat it again—it was amazing.
So, if you have the availability to shoot in the morning at Jack K. Williams, I highly recommend it. In the end, it’s a scheduling thing, but if you’re able to do it, nothing beats it. You do have to contend with the sun for certain shots, but other than that, you’re good to go. Pretty building, solid lighting, and low crowds make for the best photography.
