The Cameras: Why I Choose Sony

I currently shoot with two primary camera bodies: the Sony a7R V and the Sony a7 IV.

I began my journey with the Sony a7 IV. When I was starting out, I chose Sony over Canon because of the incredible variety and quality of the lens options available. That camera has been a reliable partner for me through many shoots.

However, as my business grew, I wanted to provide my clients with the highest resolution and most advanced autofocus possible. That lead me to the Sony a7R V. This is now my primary camera because it gives me the best opportunity to capture every detail with stunning clarity. Having both cameras on hand means I am always prepared and never have to worry about a technical failure during a once in a lifetime moment.

The Lenses: Ready for Any Occasion

To be a versatile photographer in Texas, you have to be ready for anything. My lens collection is built to handle everything from intimate weddings to fast paced sports.

The Tamron Trinity This trio of lenses allows me to cover almost any focal length needed for event photography and real estate:

  • 17 to 28mm f/2.8: Perfect for wide interior shots or sweeping landscape views.
  • 28 to 75mm f/2.8: My go to lens for portraits and general wedding coverage.
  • 70 to 180mm f/2.8: Ideal for capturing candid moments from a distance without being intrusive.

Specialized Glass

  • Sony 200 to 600mm: This is my powerhouse for sports photography and wildlife, allowing me to get close to the action from the sidelines.
  • Sigma 50mm Prime: I use this specifically for low light situations where I need that beautiful, blurry background and extra light.
  • Tamron 35 to 150mm: A versatile lens that stays on my camera for many different types of shoots because of its unique range.
