My Photography Journey: A Story of Faith and Closed Doors

This is a little bit about my photography journey. Or at least, the season before the journey began.

I've been in College Station for about 12 years now, and it’s home. That might change in the future, but I'm here now. My ultimate desire has always been to travel around the world and, hopefully, do meaningful work while I’m at it. After working at HEB for 12 years and earning my degree from Texas A&M, I just had a deep desire to do more.

The Search for a Path

One day, while I was working on the parking lot, I had an idea to join the FBI. I thought if I could join the Bureau, I’d get to travel all over the country. In my mind, that was going to be my way to travel and work at the same time.

I figured that before I applied to the FBI, I should become a police officer to get my foot in the door. That’s where I started. Over the span of two years, I tried my best to go down a path I thought was good for me. I ended up applying to the Texas A&M PD twice, Miami PD once, Honolulu PD once, and Bryan PD once.

But every single time, I was shut down for a different reason.

A Moment of Revelation

After I got denied that last time, I prayed to God for understanding and guidance. That is when I heard the word: "Photography."

Once I had an idea of what to go for, I went for it. Since then, the business has grown greatly, and I give God all the glory for every bit of success I have. Along the way, I’ve had the pleasure of shooting weddings, graduates, headshots, and big events.

I’m still shooting for my dreams, and the process has been so sweet so far. If I had never put myself out there and shown God that I was serious, I don’t know if He would have given me the revelation for my current career. I never gave up, and God blessed my steps because I had faith He would take me where I need to go.

Praise God.
