Why Aggie Ring Day Matters (And Why You Should Document It)
Ring Day, at least to me, was even more significant than graduation. It is the moment you finally receive your Aggie Ring and get to dunk it. While the dunking part might not always be the most glamorous experience, receiving the ring itself is easily the best part. Celebrating with family and peers makes it special, especially since everyone is still on campus together during the school year. Looking back at photos from my own Ring Day brings back those great memories, and as a photographer, I highly recommend having someone there to document the occasion for you.
When I cover a Ring Day session, we typically focus on three main spots. First is the ring delivery moment itself. When you step up to receive your ring, you usually have your biggest supporter, a family member or close friend, present it to you. Lines move fast, but capturing those few quick seconds of them hand delivering your ring is incredible to have on camera.
Next, we head outside to take photos along the walls of the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center. Taking photos against the Ring Building has become a favorite tradition and a great spot to gather different combinations of friends and family to show off the ring. Finally, you can use the 12th Man Foundation student membership to access field level at Kyle Field for photos. Standing on the field at one of the most prominent locations in College Station makes for an unforgettable backdrop. These spots are reserved specifically for this milestone and are not always as accessible or celebrated at other times of the year, which makes the photos even more meaningful.
You cannot go wrong with having a professional capture one of the biggest days of your college career, especially when it often turns out to be more fun than graduation day itself. Having an experienced photographer ensures you can focus on celebrating with your loved ones while every moment gets preserved. My name is Isaac Killgore, and I would love to be your photographer for Ring Day or any major milestone in your life. Thank you for reading.
Thanks and Gig'em,
