For the gram
Who doesn’t have Instagram? Well, a lot of older people, that’s who. Instagram is predominantly for the younger generation, and if I want to connect with them, investing time into social media, specifically Instagram, is essential.
To be honest, I could care less about social media. I believe it often does more harm than good. While it’s nice to catch up with family and friends, it eventually becomes overwhelming and even detrimental. Living in College Station, Texas, it's great to connect with family and friends worldwide, but the negative aspects often outweigh the positives. Despite my reservations, social media remains very much alive and active. If I want to connect with the people who use it, I have to partake in it as well.
Instagram is a great platform to showcase skills, portfolios, and personal identities. Never before in society have we had such powerful tools for communication and connection. You can share everything you do in a day, build a following, and even grow a personal brand. Twenty years ago, the idea of building a following online would have seemed absurd. However, there are significant drawbacks to consider. Prolonged use of Instagram can lead to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, driven by unrealistic expectations from idealized images. It can also consume a significant amount of time, reducing productivity and diverting attention from more meaningful activities.
The way people connect with businesses is evolving, and staying ahead requires adaptation. Adapting means using social media to my advantage. Even though it's not my favorite activity, it’s something I need to do and hopefully I can make a positive and encouraging impact.
