Introspection
This past trip to the Northeast with my mom and dad marked the fourth time I’ve visited the area, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. We made the journey to witness the breathtaking transformation of the leaves as they changed colors, a tradition that has become a highlight of the year. For my dad, this trip also holds a special significance, offering him a chance to reconnect with his roots in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. Experiencing the vibrant hues of autumn at their peak—not too early when the leaves are still green and not too late when they’ve fallen—made it all the more memorable.
Time seemed to pass too quickly, as it often does on trips like these. Life hasn’t turned out quite the way I once imagined, but I’ve learned to take it one day at a time. I’m certain my parents were glad to have me join them on this annual journey. There’s something truly special about fall in Pennsylvania and New York, and I felt grateful to be there. The added bonus of sampling pizza from local Italian restaurants made the experience even better.
Our trips typically involve a mix of driving, walking in parks, and taking ferry rides. This time, we drove nearly eight hours from Philadelphia Airport to board a ferry in the northernmost part of New York. With all that sitting and traveling, there was plenty of time to reflect and contemplate. I found myself wondering how God might use this season of my life and what I should be focusing on. Surely, there’s a purpose, even if it’s not immediately clear.
Looking back, I’m reminded of the importance of being present and cherishing each moment. Praise God for the beauty of creation and the opportunity to experience it with family. These trips continue to be a blessing, and I’m already looking forward to the next one.
